PERIODICAL SECTION SERVICES
Purpose/Description
To provide a representative collection of periodical resources to support the information and research needs of the university.
Policy
1. The process of selection and evaluation of periodicals for the collection
will include input from departmental faculty and college librarian.
Selection criteria are:
a. Recommendation in standard lists.
b. Accreditation requirements.
c. Subscription price and priority within the available budget
d. Language of content is English. Other languages will be included as required
e. Availability and quality of indexing.
f. The selection of electronic resources calls for careful weighing of
factors, including content. – the comprehensiveness, currency, durability
and accuracy of the database.
2. Maintain a core on-campus print periodical collection to support the
academic programs.
3. Purchase periodical resources in a variety of formats to satisfy user needs.
The Library subscribes to journals and other serials including
newspapers whenever possible.
4. Increase access to periodical literature by subscribing to a wide range
of Electronic resources including full text databases.
Journal lending policy
a. Faculty and students may be permitted to check out journals for
photocopying selected pages. Student and/or faculty must fill out a
their borrower’s card leave his/her identification card to the counter to check
out the material for photocopy.
b. Maximum of two (2) different journals are allowed for photocopy.
c. Borrowers are required to check missing pages of journals they wish to
borrow to avoid inconveniences. The librarian shall hold students responsible in returning journals with missing pages.
