ABSTRACT This study analysed the Effectiveness of Reading Intervention for struggling readers of Grade 1 pupils of St. Paul College of Makati. It was conducted among the 51 grade 1 pupils belonging to struggling readers of St. Paul College of Makati. It was revealed that there is a great need for an immediate intervention on the reading ability of the students that will reduce or more preferably, eliminate the risks brought by poor reading to their future journeys. It was also pointed out that reading intervention administered have greatly improved the reading ability of the respondents which can be added to the evidenced-based success of reading interventions in the learning process of students struggling to read in Grade 1. Thus, the results of this study proved that one good treatment particularly for the learning problems in reading is an appropriate intervention that targets the necessary competencies of students on the subject. It was also evident that the significant difference as well as the significant increase in the reading ability scores of the respondents during the post-test presents another positive effect of reading interventions. Therefore, it can be concluded that the utilized reading intervention has adequately targeted the competencies needed by the pupils to efficiently learn how to read. As the impact is felt, the research showed that the pupils who received the Reading Intervention Program made higher gains in reading.

ABSTRACT This study sought to determine the significance relationship between students’ performance in science and in LAMP(Learning Assurance for Monitoring and Progress) of the Grade VI pupils and the problems encountered by the science teachers in meeting the grade level required in the curriculum guide. The mixed method was employed in this study. Mixed method research requires a purposeful mixing of methods in data collection, data analysis and interpretation of the evidence. Mixed method is a research approach whereby researchers collect and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data within the same study. The result of the study revealed that the Science teachers’ best practices are the following posting video lessons and powerpoint presentations used in Google classroom weekly, utilizing interactive apps to measure students’ performance standard, conducting experiments synchronously, and recording a voice lesson during asynchronous classes. These best practices were used by Grade 6 Science teachers in meeting the standard requirement stipulated in the curriculum guide. Most of the teachers emphasized that they centered maximizing the utilization of technology and coping with the demands of teaching under the new normal with the use of Kahoot, Quizziz, powerpoint presentation, voice recording and classpoint. These approaches motivated the learners to attend to their classes while having fun exploring the different features of the app.

ABSTRACT The title of this study is "Activity Based Learning Approach and Achievement Performance of Students: Basis for an Enhanced Curriculum Guide." The main purpose of this study is to examine the relationship of the activity-based learning approach in teaching science with the achievement performance of students, as the basis for an enhancement curriculum guide. Twenty- first century skills, as a student centered curriculum, are a series of higher order thinking skills, abilities, and learning dispositions that have been identified as being required for success in 21st century society and to cope with the fast changing technology. Many of these skills are also associated with deeper learning, including analytic reasoning, complex problem solving, and teamwork, compared to traditional knowledge-based academic skills (Cuban, 2015). The target participants are the sixty (60) Grade 8 students of Sapang Palay National High School, with 30 participants each for the control and experimental group with 15 males and15 females respectively. It hoped to enhance the curriculum of Grade 8 Science, through the development of a more responsive program for the academe, and thus make learners to become globally competitive. Furthermore, the researcher sought to determine how his participants be responsive and their acceptability to the new strategies that will be given to them The results were carefully gathered and tabulated to identify the achievement performance of the learners from each group. And the findings will justify the effect on the use of enhancing curriculum guides which were designed by the department. And as to the effect of this innovation on the learners. While it is yet too early to see the benefits of the new curriculum to the students who are expected to be employable even before tertiary education, and the country which in itself would improve the workforce, certain implications on the current implementation processes are already evident, such that the researcher has noted. In the light of the findings of this research, the following recommendations were hereby presented: 1) It is recommended that teachers should innovate and apply the technology more often in our lessons to address the learner's need and interest. Furthermore, various activities based learning approaches could be used to enhance the skills of the students' like; critical thinking skills, and additional interactive simulation could be utilized to achieve high performance of students in Science. 2) Conduct this study to larger samples to confirm or negate results, as well as to further strengthen the acceptability of the study in all areas of the curriculum. 3) For the fact that this study takes on non-random sampling, it is recommended to conduct a true Experimental Design as procedure to increase the generalization of the ABL approach in teaching Science. 4) It can be suggested that teachers should embark researches on Enhancing

ABSTRACT A qualitative inquiry on inclusion of Children with Special Needs (CSNs) into regular classrooms was conducted in two (2) target schools in in the National Capital Region, Republic of the Philippines. A total of 20 inclusive teachers were utilized as key informants for the study. Triangulation was achieved using the combination of 3 qualitative inquiry methods to cross-validate information. The experiences and observations of the key informants was utilized to come up with the concepts of inclusion, the need for its implementation, the reactions of inclusive teachers on its implementations as well as its advantages and disadvantages. As revealed inclusive teachers understand inclusion as the merging of CSNs and regular learners aimed to provide the CSNs equal learning opportunities and environment. It is a practice, approach and intervention that requires adequate behavioral and teaching competence to be able to foster learning to the two different groups of learners being handled. Major advantages of inclusion is its ability to influence learners the basic skill of valuing diversity of social, behavioral, emotional and intellectual nature of children in the classroom, in addition, it allows teachers to handle complex tasks which makes them more competent. However, inclusions also have its disadvantages in the sense that it still serves as a burden to some teachers and even some students in the classroom. Disruption of classes, instruction and slow-phased learning to site some, plus bullying of CSNs by the regular students because they are "different".

ABSTRACT Institutional or program evaluation is the first step to be done before any recognition by a competent body is conducted. In institutions of higher learning the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is the duly recognized body to monitor, evaluate, and approve all degree programs offered by a higher education institution through its implementing arm which is the Regional Quality Assurance Team (RQUAT). In this connection, the primary intentions of this study were to determine the level of implementation of the policies and standards of the Universidad de Manila (UDM) graduate studies as basis for its program recognition being the ultimate output of the empirical investigation. The major research design used in this study was the descriptive correlational design which was supplemented by a qualitative part through the conduct of an online and actual interview by the participants. A total of 396 respondents including 20 participants constituted as the sample population of this study. And to make certain of the validity and reliability of the results of the study, the major data- gathering instrument was validated by expert validators, and the Cronbach alpha coefficient was employed for the purpose of ensuring the validness of items or indicators in all major variables in the study such as: Master's degree in Education, Criminal Justice system, Public Administration, Business Administration, and the Doctor of Philosophy in Education. Based on the summary of findings of the study, the level of implementation of the UDM Graduate Programs was to "Highly Implemented"which simply means that the implementation was considerably high. So on these basis, the following general conclusions were drawn: as to profile of the respondents and participants, they had shown fairness in their evaluation as all of them were intellectually and psychologically capable in determining the level of effectiveness of the implementation; as to difference in the implementation when grouped according to profile, it shows significant differences; there was a consensus as to the experiences, challenges, and recommendations of the participants, which means that the UDM graduate programs need more rooms for upgrading or enhancement specifically in the areas of facilities and equipment, the library resources, research and extension, and curriculum and instruction as a preparation for any program recognition; Hence, the UDM Graduate Program Recognition Plan (GSPRP). Keywords: Implementation, Graduate School Programs, Recognition Plan, UDM,
